¿How to achieve sustainable careers in young urban artists without losing their independence and identity?

With the methodology of the Inventory of Youth Art and Popular we are investigating the capacity, conditions and opportunities for artists under 26 in music, dance, animation and graffiti. With this research we are understanding their lifestyles, their motivation, their relationship with an audience and investment, support and exchanges in which they are embedded.
We believe it is possible to develop cultural industries in which young people and those belonging to the cultural trends of Hip-hop, Rock, Punk and Reggae are independent and are not losing their identity. We begin with the chapter more complex, the graffiti, because they are often completely disconnected from any relationship with the market. Today we have the profiles, in-depth stories, photos of the work and a map of graffiti in Medellin.

In Pakistan, paintings and poetry on transport are popular art form. The artists make an income from these, but there is very little recognition and support for the artists. This genre of art is reported in newspaper and magazine articles but little academic endeavors have been made to understand and critique the art and reach out to the artists to improve their capacities

Interesting experience in Pakistan. Has similarities with Colombia. In Medellin, more and more artists are singing on the buses. Curiousely life styles such valuable and vital, debates between an aristocratic artists wich production depends on other artists and the miseries of the sub-job of an artist that his contact with the city is like the homeless people.
The challenge is to think ourselves into new mechanisms of exchange, where the dignity prevail
